A little about me

I’ve been behind the camera for over 12 years, with a passion for capturing people, places and the moments that matter. My photography journey began with my love of the great outdoors and Scotland’s incredible landscapes, before naturally growing into event and wedding photography. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing all kinds of special occasions, and I never take for granted the trust people place in me to capture memories that will last a lifetime.

Photography has perhaps always been in my blood. My wife, Gillian, managed a photographic shop in Edinburgh for many years, while my late father-in-law worked as a camera sales representative across Scotland. So, in many ways, cameras and photography have always been part of family life — you could say it runs in the family!

Before photography became my full-time career, I also spent several years working in theatre lighting in London’s West End. Although I’ve since changed direction, many of the skills I developed in the theatre continue to influence my photography today. Understanding light, atmosphere, timing and composition, while knowing when to step back and simply observe, are all hugely valuable skills that I now bring to photographing weddings and events.

I moved to Scotland from Kent 28 years ago, and it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with this incredible country. From dramatic mountains and rugged coastlines to quiet lochs and hidden corners, I love nothing more than getting outdoors and exploring Scotland with a camera in hand. That love of the Scottish landscape has become a huge part of my photography and gives me a real appreciation for beautiful locations, natural light and making the most of whatever surroundings your wedding day brings.

Away from photography, I’m married to my lovely wife, Gillian, and together we have three children and our wonderful four-legged companion, Suzy. Family is incredibly important to me, which is perhaps why I enjoy wedding photography so much — I understand just how meaningful it is to have the people you love most together in one place, celebrating something truly special.

I feel incredibly honoured to be part of so many important occasions, from engagement parties and weddings to garden parties and community events. I’ve also had the privilege of photographing some truly memorable Scottish occasions, including the Highland Games and the incredible Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Whether it’s a large-scale event or an intimate wedding surrounded by your closest family and friends, my aim is always the same: to tell the story of your day naturally, authentically and beautifully. I want to capture the laughter, the emotion, the atmosphere and those fleeting moments that make your day uniquely yours — creating photographs that bring those memories back to life for years to come.
